Joanne Hensman
Headteacher
Having qualified at St Andrew's College in Bearsden, Scotland as a primary school teacher, I took the exciting decision to move to Devon in 1997. Since then I have brought up my two wonderful daughters and continued my teaching and leadership career at Compton C of E primary school in Plymouth. I am passionate about providing the best opportunities for our children. Being Headteacher St Paul's is an honour and exciting opportunity. St Paul's is a very special place and I am delighted to become part of this vibrant and warm community.
Sharron Bates
Parent Governor, Vice Chair - Curriculum and Standards Lead
I am really happy to be a part of the Governing body at St Paul’s School and I am looking forward to continuing to contribute to and build upon the great work that has already taken place. I want to support the whole school community to the best of my ability and would be really happy for you to approach me to help you in any way I can. Please don’t hesitate to ask me questions and if I don’t know the answer, I’ll try my best to find it out for you. I have a daughter in school, following in her daddy’s footsteps (although quite a few years later) and also her granny Rosemary’s footsteps. I am a school tutor in another local school and have the interests of the local community at heart.
Katie Conn
Parent Governor - Safeguarding and Child Protection Lead
I have lived in and around St Budeaux for most of my life. I always had fond memories of St Paul’s
even as a child. My primary school would come to St Paul’s to use their school field for sports day and
events and my childhood home backed onto the field also. Being such a small, friendly and
welcoming school St Paul’s was first choice when it was time for my own children to start their school
journey. So when the opportunity to become a member of the governing body was mentioned to me I
absolutely knew I wanted to be part of the board and part of St Paul’s future. I have enjoyed my role
so far and look forward to continuing to help our school and children thrive.

Josh Caves
Staff Governor
I am a staff governor at St Paul’s and have been teaching here for Five years. Although I now live in Plymouth, I am originally from Cornwall and I believe that jam should always come first on scones. I am passionate about teaching and learning and feel that every day is a fresh opportunity to learn and grow both academically and spiritually. I believe that all pupils, regardless of background, ability or additional needs, are entitled to a first-class education, which I believe St Paul’s offers. I am currently teaching Year 6 and have joined the Senior Leadership Team as the Key Stage 2 Lead. I am also leading Maths, History and Geography across the school.
Rebekah Shepherd
Staff Governor
I am a staff governor at St Paul's and joined the teaching team in 2021. I was born and raised in Plymouth, moved to Manchester in 2016 to complete a music degree, before returning to Plymouth in 2020 to complete my PGCE. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, swimming and spending time with my family and friends. I am a member of Plymouth Theatre Company, based at the Devonport Playhouse, where I take part in a variety of different musicals throughout the year. I have a passion for Music which I am keen to share with the children and offer exciting opportunities for them to learn new skills. I currently teach in Year 1, am the subject leader for Music, Art and DT, and run a singing club that performs in a variety of different areas within the local community. St Paul's holds a special place in my heart after I completed my PGCE placement year here during Covid.
